(LONDON) — More than a year after it was formally announced, it’s been confirmed that Willow Smith will be starring in a modern-day remake of Annie, with her Roc Nation boss Jay-Z overseeing the music.
That’s according to the remake’s screenwriter Emma Thompson who tells the U.K. Press Association, she’s “so excited” that Jay will be taking control of the film’s score. Hova is no stranger to the Broadway musical Annie. He sampled music from the production for his 1998 smash, “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem).”
Willow’s dad, Will Smith is also in on the Annie project. He and Thompson worked together on I Am Legend, and they star in the new movie Men in Black 3.
