(LOS ANGELES) — Kelly Preston says she felt like she was “drowning” when she lost her 16-year-old son, Jett, in 2009, to a seizure.
Preston reflects on how she handled her son’s death in an episode of the Lifetime series The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet set to air Thursday night.
According to Us Weekly, the actress says, “I felt at times like I was drowning. It felt like a sea of wet blankets. And then I just peeled them off, layer by layer, so that I can now say, ‘I want to live. I love life. My life is beautiful and amazing.'”
Preston also credits her Scientology beliefs for helping her deal with her loss.
The 49-year-old also discusses the birth of her third child with husband John Travolta, a son named Benjamin, in 2010.
She says, “Having another child after this experience — we had to think about it, especially this late in life.”
She says that she’s interested in having another child, but, she adds, “it might be pushing it.”
