If Berkman only has a torn meniscus, he could return after the All-Star break.  If Berkman needs to have his ACL replaced, he would be out for the season.

Berkman has suffered an ACL injury before. In 2005, he blew out his right ACL playing touch football.

“All the information that I’m getting plus what I felt leads me to believe that there is an issue with the ACL,” Berkman said. “I’m hoping that’s not the case but I’m not sure that is the case.”

Berkman, 36, is signed to a one-year deal with the Cardinals worth $12 million that he signed before the end of last season.
