Miley Cyrus’ New Film “LOL” Has Laughable Debut

ABC/KAREN NEAL(LOS ANGELES) — You may not have realized this, what with all the hoopla surrounding the release of Marvel’s The Avengers, but Miley Cyrus had a new film in theaters over the weekend. And, to put it politely, it didn’t have a successful debut.
The romance story LOL, also starring Demi Moore, opened in about 100 theaters and, according to a Movie City News estimate, earned about $47,000. By our calculations, that’s how much The Avengers made per minute over the weekend.
The studio behind LOL, Lionsgate, didn’t put much promotion behind the film prior to its release. Lionsgate hasn’t released the official box office totals for LOL.
Even though her film was a flop, Cyrus has no regrets.
She tweeted, “Thank u so much for everyone who went to see LOL. It is a film I loved making and I am proud of…. That’s really all that matters to me.”
