BOS PIERCE PAUL? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1335952972974Boston Celtics/NBA(ATLANTA) — The cards were stacked against the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of their playoff series with the Atlanta Hawks. The Celtics were without point guard Rajon Rondo thanks to a suspension and the NBA’s all-time three point record holder Ray Allen was absent due to an ankle injury. Throw in the fact that they were on the road in Atlanta and it didn’t look good for the Green.

But it appears people forgot about the “Truth.” Paul Pierce, otherwise known as the “Truth,” scored 36 points and grabbed 14 boards leading the Celtics’s on 11 point second half comeback, as the Celtics defeated the Hawks 87-80, to even the playoff series at one.

“I wanted to be aggressive from the start,” Pierce said when talking with NBA TV. “I new I was going to play a lot of minutes tonight. I knew the ball was going to come to me a lot and being the team captain of this team, that is what is expected of me, especially with Rondo out…Ray out…it was needed from me.”

Pierce finished the game strong single handily outscoring the Hawks 18-15.

Game 3 takes place Friday in Boston at 7:30 PM ET.
