Prust Suspended One Game

Getty Brandon Prust?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1337594398746Jim McIsaac/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — New York Rangers winger Brandon Prust has been suspended for one-game for hitting New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov in the head with his elbow.

Prust was not penalized at the time of the incident, and Volchenkov didn’t miss a shift.

“Great guy on and off the ice,” Rangers defenseman Michael Del Zotto said of Prust. “His play speaks for itself. You see how hard he works up there. He’s never doing dirty plays. As everyone said, he’s an honest player.”

While this is Prust’s first suspension of his career, he leads the league this season with 20 fighting majors.

The fact that Volchenkov wasn’t injured and Prust has no history of suspensions affected the length of the punishment.

This is the 13th suspension of this years playoffs.
