Rangers Blank Devils 3-0, Take 2-1 Series Lead
(NEWARK, N.J.) -- New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist made 36 saves, and the Rangers scored two goals in under two minutes early in the third, as they beat the New Jersey Devils 3-0, taking a 2-1 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Lundqvist posted his second shutout of the series and third of the playoffs.
"That's a bit of who we are and I think Henrik displays that, how he does compete," Rangers head coach John Tortorella said talking about the teams never quit attitude. "He is a great competitor as far as his preparation and as far as what he does for this hockey club."
The game was scoreless until the third period when Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi scored his second goal of the series.
"Richy (Brad Richards) won the draw in the middle," Girardi said explaining his mindset leading up to his goal. "I just came down...I just wanted to shoot as hard as I can to the blocker side...Maybe get a rebound... I just got lucky it went in."
Game 4 takes place Monday at 8PM ET, in New Jersey.
