(NEW YORK) — Mark Prior, the former Chicago Cubs starting pitcher whose career has been derailed by numerous injuries, has signed a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox.
Prior previously attemped comebacks with the Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, and New York Yankees, but he has thrown only two innings as high as Triple-A since his last major league appearance in 2006. The 31-year-old Prior will report to Boston’s extended spring program.
Prior was with the Cubs for five seasons. During that time, he went 42-29 with a 3.51 ERA.
