Release of ‘G.I. Joe’ Sequel Pushed Back to Next Year
Published at(LOS ANGELES) — The sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation won’t be released in late June, as originally announced. Paramount Pictures has pushed back the release of the film to March 29, 2013. The studio cites its desire to convert the movie to 3D as the reason for the decision.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation, starring Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum and Bruce Willis, had been scheduled to hit theaters on June 29. It’s unusual for a high-profile movie such as this one to be delayed just weeks before its scheduled release.
The most recent theatrical trailer for the film debuted a month ago.
On his Twitter feed, Johnson wrote late Wednesday about the delay, “It will be [worth it]. Designing new scenes to enhance 3D.”
