Roger Federer Ties Open Era Record
Published at(PARIS) — Roger Federer defeated Tobias Kamke of Germany in the first round of the French Open Monday, 6-2, 7-5, 6-3. It’s Federer’s 233rd Grand Slam victory, tying him with Jimmy Connors for the Open era record.
“That’s a big one, because that was longevity,” Federer said. “Jimmy is obviously one of the greats of all time and was around for 20 years.”
Federer is 233-35 in tennis’ four Grand Slam tournaments. He has won a record 16 titles.
