Russell Brand to Host 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Tommaso Boddi/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — British comedian and actor Russell Brand is set to host the 2012 MTV Movie Awards for the first time, MTV announced Thursday.
“This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than The Avengers and you won’t have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out,” Brand said of his new gig.
It’s not the first time the 36-year-old has hosted an awards show for MTV. In 2008 and 2009, Brand hosted the MTV Video Music Awards. Since then, he’s starred in films including Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek and the upcoming Rock of Ages, due in theaters on June 15.
The 2012 MTV Movie Awards are set to air live on Sunday, June 3 from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.
