Serena Williams Loses In The First Round Of The French Open
Clive Brunskill/Getty Images(PARIS) -- Serena Williams was ousted from the first round of the French Open Tuesday, losing to Virginie Razzano of France in three sets, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3. It’s the first time in Williams’ career that she has dropped a first-round match in a Grand Slam tournament.
“I just felt like I couldn’t get a ball in play,” Williams said. “I just felt like I was hitting late. I mean how can you hit late on a clay court, you know it’s kind of odd.”
Williams came into the French Open looking for her 14th Grand Slam title, and her second at Roland Garros.
