Simpson, LeFavour to Face Off, Bingham County has New Sheriff

(IDAHO)  — Democratic U.S. congressional candiate Nicole LeFavour of Boise will face off with incumbent Republican Mike Simpson this November.  LeFavour won the Democratic primary by 82-percent Tuesday.  The retiring four-term state lawmaker hopes to bring more diversity to politics, both in Idaho and in Washington.  Simpson, who has held his position in the House since 1999, beat-out challenger “Chick” Heileson with nearly 70-percent of the Republican vote.  U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador of Eagle also won the GOP primary in Idaho’s first congressional district.

Resident of Bingham County have voted in a new Sheriff as Craig Rowland beat out incumbent Sheriff Dave Johnson.   Another upset in Jefferson County, newcomer Brian Farnsworth defeated Debbie Karen for a seat on the County Commission.   Voter turnout overall Tuesday was a disappointment state-wide.
