(NEW YORK) — The weekly jobs report, released Thursday, was encouraging, but it wasn’t enough to keep investors in the mood to buy. The Dow lost 62 points, while the Nasdaq and the S&P gave up 36 points and 11 points, respectively.
The past few weekly jobless reports seemed to show a slowdown in hiring, but the most recent numbers suggest that may not be happening. The number of first time unemployment claims filed last week hit a three-month low. That’s an encouraging sign. The April jobs numbers due out on Friday.
