Venus Williams Out At The French Open
Published at(PARIS) — Venus Williams is out at the French Open, losing Wednesday in the second round to the No. 3-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland, 6-2, 6-3. It took Radwanska just 60 minutes to defeat the seven-time Grand Slam champion.
The 31-year-old Williams was diagnosed with Sjogren’s syndrome last August, causing her to miss the U.S. Open and the Australian Open.
“This tournament, for me, was all about getting to the Olympics, as I have said a couple million times,” Williams said. “If that happens for me, and I think the chances are good, then I come out a victor. So that’s why I was here.”
Williams’ loss came one day after her sister Serena was eliminated in the first round.
