Weaver Leaves Game with Lower Back Injury
Published at(ANAHEIM, Calif.) — Los Angeles Angels pitcher Jered Weaver left his start versus the New York Yankees Monday, after just 12 pitches, with a lower back injury.
“Everything felt great in the bullpen. I felt good going into it,” Weaver said. “I’ve never felt anything like that before. It felt like somebody stabbed me in the back.”
Weaver will undergo X-rays and a MRI Tuesday. The results will determine if the Angels place him on the 15-day disabled list.
Weaver has posted a 6-1 record, with a 2.61 ERA, 57 strikeouts and a 0.93 WHIP this season.
