Whooping Cough Takes Life of Local Infant

(POCATELLO) – A Pocatello infant died Thursday of whooping cough, something local doctors say might have been prevented if more people were immunized. Officials at Portneuf Medical Center tell KIDK that pertussis is a debilitating disease that is difficult for babies to fight off. Southeast Idaho Public Health employees say that if 90 percent of kids were vaccinated, the disease would be almost non-existent. Only 72 percent of local kids are properly immunized.
