The 30 Rock star commented on his altercation with photographer Marcus Santos during an appearance on CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday.  Baldwin, claiming it was not his first run-in with the photographer, said he pushed Santos out of the way because, he alleged, Santos almost hit him in the face with the camera.

Baldwin maintained that he did not punch Santos, joking, “Had I punched him, I’d be in jail, then I would’ve pressed charges against him for assault, then we’d both be in the jail cell together, and then you don’t want to know what would happen in the jail cell if we were together in the jail cell.”

Baldwin also complained that unlike in past decades, Hollywood studios try to make money off of actors’ failures.

Baldwin occasionally mixed in humor throughout the interview; he pulled down his pants while explaining how much weight he’s lost, and David Letterman followed suit.

After he taped his Late Show appearance, Baldwin walked the red carpet of the premiere for his new movie, Woody Allen’s To Rome with Love.

He told reporters, “There’s a different part of the press, what I would call the illegitimate press, who, they have made an appointment for me that I wasn’t aware of, and they come jumping out of the bushes to remind me about it.  And that’s a problem.”

The attorney who represents Santos says his client met with New York prosecutors and detectives Wednesday morning and that they are taking the case “very seriously.”

Attorney Sanford Rubenstein also said, “Mr. Baldwin should be held criminally accountable for what he did.  There were witnesses, they are cooperating with the district attorney’s office, as well as photos.  Pictures of the truth.”

Baldwin obtained a marriage license for his impending nuptials with fiancée Hilaria Thomas.

According to the New York Daily News, Baldwin on Wednesday ran over the foot of an Inside Edition reporter while on a mountain bike.  He allegedly hit a Daily News reporter and photographer with the bike’s handlebars, too.

Baldwin later tweeted, “I am told I ran over someone’s foot on my bike today. I think it was that person who placed their foot under the wheel of my bike.”
