(LOS ANGELES) — It was a long time coming, but it appears as though American Idol champ Phillip Phillips has finally had the kidney surgery he needed so badly.
According to TMZ, Phillip went under the knife in L.A. yesterday. The surgery, to remove the kidney stones that have been causing him so much pain, took six-and-a-half hours. The stones were reportedly too big to pass in the normal way.
Phillip’s rep told ABC News Radio that the surgery went well, and added, “He’s resting and will be ready for the Idol tour kickoff in July!” That tour begins July 6 in Detroit.
