Arizona Wins College World Series

Harry How/Getty Images(OMAHA, Neb.) — After 26 years, the Arizona Wildcats can celebrate again as the team has won the College World Series after defeating South Carolina 4-1 on Monday night.
Arizona truly showed their dominance throughout the tournament, they went 10-0 in the tournament. Only South Carolina had accomplished the feat before, doing so just last season.
In the clinching win, Arizona starter James Farris pitched 7.2 innings and gave up just two hits. Meanwhile, Robert Refsnyder was named The College World Series Most Outstanding player for his stellar performance throughout the whole tournament.
“He’s a genuinely good man,” Arizona athletic director Greg Byrne said when asked about manager Andy Lopez. “He cares about people. It doesnt’ matter if it’s the guy under the stadium who cleans things up or one of our biggest fans. He treats everyone the same.”
“I think it reflects on how the team plays,” Byrne added. “We made plays when we had to. We weren’t tight. It’s a great reflection of who he is as a coach and person.”
Lopez has been the manager at Arizona since 2002.
