(ATLANTA) — Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Brandon Beachy underwent successful Tommy John surgery Thursday, according to the team.
Dr. James Andrews performed the operation on the 25-year-old right-hander, repairing the partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. The recovery period is expected to last at least a year.
Beachy finishes the season 5-5 with a 2.00 ERA in 13 starts. He struck out 68 batters in 81 innings of work.
