(SEACAUCUS, N.J.) — The Houston Astros selected 17-year-old shortstop Carlos Correa with the first pick in the 2012 MLB Draft.
“I feel so excited to be the number one pick,” Correa said to the MLB Network. “I worked hard to be here. Right now we are doing a great job to be here, and I feel proud and excited.”
Correa become the first player from Puerto Rico to be picked first in the draft.
Correa was Houstons first pick in a draft since it drafted Phil Nevin first in 1992.
