(CHICAGO) — The Chicago Cubs placed third baseman Ian Stewart on the 15-day disabled list Thursday due to a sore left wrist.
The 27-year-old Stewart says he has been dealing with the soreness for more than a year. He plans on meeting with a hand specialist next week at the Cleveland Clinic.
Stewart is batting .201 with five home runs and 17 RBIs in 55 games played this season.
To take Stewart’s spot on the roster, the Cubs promoted infielder Luis Valbuena from Triple-A Iowa.
