Crime Rates Rise as Temperatures Do the Same

(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – Warmer weather usually leads to a spike in crime rates, and this year is no exception. Idaho Falls Police say car burglaries, vandalism, and other violations typically go up around 16 percent during summer months, while violent crimes go up 10 percent. With more people staying out longer, officers say most residents don’t know that they’re often leaving themselves vulnerable to petty crimes. They recommend keeping valuables out of view and locking cars, even if you’re running quick errands.
