Ferry was the Cleveland Cavaliers general manager from 2005-2010.

“I’m very excited to be here today with the opportunity to help build something special for the Hawks and the Atlanta community,” Ferry said in a statement. “The Hawks are dedicated to creating consistent success for our fans and doing so with the right people and the right way. I look forward to an exciting future together.”

The Hawks are coming off a season in which they finished 40-26 without their all-star center Al Horford for the bulk of the season.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed by the team, but sources told ESPN NBA insider Chris Broussard that the deal is for six years.
