David Arquette Finally Files for Divorce from Courtney Cox

Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- They separated nearly two years ago, but actor David Arquette has now finally filed for divorce from Courtney Cox, TMZ.com reports.  According to the paperwork, which was signed in March, Arquette held onto the papers for months before filing.

The 40-year-old actor cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the divorce, and has asked for joint legal custody of their daughter, Coco, who turns eight Wednesday.

Arquette does not have a lawyer and appears to be representing himself. The divorce papers reportedly did not detail how their property and assets would be divided.

The estranged couple, who met on the set of Scream in 1995, get along fine.  In an interview, Cox said recently that their relationship is better "than it would be if we lived together."  Cox was often seen in the audience cheering Arquette on when he competed on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, for example.

The couple wed in June 1999, and initially split in October 2010.
