Economist Warns of Potential Downfall

(POCATELLO) – A top economic advisor to Gov. Butch Otter says Idaho is headed in the wrong direction when it comes to taxes and revenues. Michael Ferguson, executive director of the Idaho Center for Fiscal Policy, says the state’s legislature isn’t doing enough to support education funding. Idaho has seen a 23 percent drop in education funding since 2000. Ferguson says major corporate tax cuts haven’t produced more jobs, and that annual levies aren’t enough to keep school districts sustainable.
