Research shows that women athletes lack enough nutrition, which may lead to missed menstrual periods and the decay of bone density.

257 NCAA Division I universities were surveyed by the Medical College of Wisconsin to determine how often and when athletes had physical exams and health histories reviewed. Only 63 percent of the athletic programs had complete full medical histories and examinations of freshman and transfer athletes, instead of on all the collegiate athletes every year or every two years.
