Gaborik will have Shoulder Surgery

Len Redkoles/NHLI via Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- New York Rangers winger Marian Gaborik will have surgery Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder, the team said in a news release.

Sources close to Gaborik say the injury occurred in either Game 3 or 4 of the Rangers' first round playoff matchup against the Ottawa Senators. It is speculated Gaborik will miss six months.

Gaborik had 76 points for the Rangers during the regular season but only had one point in the Eastern Conference finals.

"I know I could've played better," Gaborik said referring to the Conference finals. "I don't think it affected me that much. It was just weak. During the game, the adrenaline kicks in and everything goes to the side. Shooting, my shot wasn't there, obviously, but I don't want to make excuses. I tried to put it aside and focus on playing. It wasn't just me -- a lot of guys were banged up. You just try not to think about it and go out there and do your best."
