USA Today reports that mass transit ridership has risen to record levels in some cities, from Boston to Dayton, Ohio, to San Diego. In Indianapolis, it’s up 20 percent from last year’s first quarter.

The American Public Transportation Association credits rising gas prices, a mild spring, and more people returning to the work force.
