Kelsey Grammer Sued by Former TV Star over Ponzi Scheme

Gregg DeGuire/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) — Kelsey Grammer has been named in a lawsuit brought by former Too Close for Comfort star Lydia Cornell and several other plaintiffs who say they were victims of a Ponzi scheme.
According to RadarOnline.com, Cornell and the plaintiffs claim in the lawsuit, which was initially filed last August but was amended last month to include Grammer, that investors were “taken in” by the scheme, involving the website Staropoly.com, because the man who the complaint says ran it used Grammer’s name to promote it.
Grammer’s lawyer contends that the former Frasier actor lost $1 million in the scheme, and that if it was billed as “Kelsey’s network,” “it was done without Kelsey’s authorization, and against Kelsey’s strenuous objections.”
There are more than 100 defendants listed in the $100 million lawsuit.
Cornell played Sara, one of the daughters of Ted Knight’s character, in the 1980s sitcom Too Close for Comfort.
