Late Frost Damages Crops, Gardens

(IDAHO FALLS) – Overnight frosts have wreaked havoc on area fields and gardens. Agriculture researchers tell Local News 8 that cooler temperatures cause nitrate levels in alfalfa and other livestock feeds to skyrocket, causing potentially deadly problems for cows and other animals. Officials say the best way to keep gardens thriving through the transition to summer is to keep them covered during potentially freezing nights.
