Leavitt Maintains Innocence Ahead of Execution

(BOISE) – Idaho death row inmate Richard Leavitt maintains his innocence just one day before his scheduled execution. The man who investigators claim stabbed and mutilated 31-year-old Danette Elg in Blackfoot 28 years ago, says evidence linking him to the crime is circumstantial. Local News 8 reports that Leavitt’s attorneys have also pointed out that their client passed a lie detector test, though the results were not admissible in court. Leavitt says he’ll spend his last hours visiting with family members.
