The actress was behind the wheel of a Porsche involved in a crash on the Pacific Coast Highway on June 9.  According to police, Lohan rear-ended a dump truck.  Lohan did not suffer any serious injuries.

TMZ sources say the movie’s producers knew she was driving in violation of an insurance policy taken out to protect the project.  It is believed that a production vehicle was traveling behind Lohan at the time of the accident.

Sources close to the production say the insurance company that issued the policy had been so worried about Lohan not completing the film — because of her past troubles and DUIs — it set multiple conditions for its coverage, including banning her from driving.

Sources tell TMZ the insurance company has not canceled the policy or taken any other action at this time.  An investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
