The league has suspended Leshoure two games for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.

Last month, Leshoure pleaded guilty to marijuana possession after police discovered marijuana in his mouth during a traffic stop. The incident happened back in March, which was less than a month after police in Berrien County say that they also caught Leshoure with marijuana.

“We support the commissioner’s decision regarding Mikel and appreciate the dialogue that we have had with the league office concerning the matter,” Lions president Tom Lewand said. “As we have previously stated, we expect every member of our organization to uphold a greater standard of behavior. If the standard is not upheld, those responsible will be held accountable.”

Leshoure was drafted by the Lions in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He missed his entire rookie season after suffering a torn Achilles in training camp.
