New Emergency Alerts Require No Sign Up

(POCATELLO) – A new emergency weather alert system is reaching people through their cell phones. The Commercial Mobile Alert System can be accessed through most service providers, and can send out text messages warning subscribers about bad weather nearby. Officials tell Local News 8 that with so many people using cell phones on a regular basis, the National Weather Service wanted to find a way to get more people out of the danger of storms and other hazards.
