NFL Planning On Hiring Possible Replacement Referees

NFL Shield (NFL)(NEW YORK) — The NFL is planning to begin hiring and training possible replacement officials as the league and the NFL Referees Association are at a standstill over a new collective bargaining agreement.
Talks between the two have been ongoing since last October, but recently they have broken down following two mediation sessions.
“Our goal is to maintain the highest quality of officiating for our teams, players, and fans, including proper enforcement of the playing rules and efficient management of our games,” the NFL said in a statement.
The 2012 season kicks off on Wednesday, September 5th, with the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants hosting the Dallas Cowboys.
