(EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.) — The New York Giants waived tight-end Jake Ballard Monday, after he failed a physical exam. The 24-year-old tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during New York’s victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 46.
Ballard had a breakout campaign in 2011 with 38 receptions for 604 yards and four touchdowns. During Big Blue’s post-season run, he caught five pass for 43 yards.
If he clears waivers, Ballard is expected to re-sign with New York and be put on the PUP list or injured reserve list, according to ESPN.
