Moyer, 49, was recently released by the Colorado Rockies. The Orioles have decided to take a flier on Moyer, and assigned him to Triple-A Norfolk. Earlier this season, Moyer became the oldest player in Major League history to record a win.

Colorado released Moyer due to his lack of effectiveness this season. In 10 starts this season for the Rockies, Moyer went just 2-5 with a 5.70 ERA. He missed all of the 2011 season recovering from Tommy John Surgery. He is expected to start Friday night for Norfolk against Buffalo.

Moyer may have actually put himself in a better position to succeed with the Orioles than Rockies. Colorado is just 24-32 and face an uphill battle to reach the playoffs. Baltimore on the other hand, is 32-24 and is currently in first place in the American League East division.

The Orioles also rank ninth overall in team ERA.
