Buchholz has been hospitalized and will need 10-14 days to recover from intestinal bleeding the team said.

“We’re hoping we get him back at the end of the 15 days,” Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said.

Buchholz’ overall numbers may not be that strong, but he had been pitching much better as of late. For the season, the 27-year old Buchholz is 8-2 but has an ERA of 5.53. Despite his struggles, he had lowered his ERA by over three runs over his last ten starts, and was looking more like the pitcher that won 17 games in 2007.

Along with Buchholz, starting pitcher Josh Beckett and starter/reliever Daniel Bard are also on the disabled list.
