Vocational Programs Pay Off, Study Finds
Published at(WASHINGTON) — Facing high tuition costs and a bleak job market, more than a million high school graduates each year pass on going to college and turn to short-term vocational training instead.
And, according to a new study from Georgetown University, the certificate programs do pay off.
For instance, researchers found that someone with short-term credentials in computer services can make $72,000 a year; those who specialize in construction can earn $45,000 annually.
While college degree holders still earn the most, the study’s authors say certificates can be “the fastest, cheapest way to get a job that pays.”
