The money Will is donating will be used, he says,  “to build a tech program to get the kids from east London up to speed.”

Having himself come from a disadvantaged neighborhood, Will.i.am said that for him, it was his family that made all the difference.  “My family made sure I understood that getting a good education and hard work were key to turning my dreams into reality and beating the odds that come with growing up in a disadvantaged situation,” Will said during the meeting at Buckingham Palace.

When the Prince remarked about how encouraged he was that Will.i.am would be living for a while in London, the singer made a play for an apartment at the Palace.  Laughing as he pointed to the upper floors of the royal residence, Will.i.am joked, “They say you have a whole lot of empty rooms up there.”
