Dickey hadn’t allowed a run in 44 2/3 innings, but that all ended when Mark Teixeira hit a sac fly off of him in the third inning. Overall, Dickey allowed five runs in six innings of work. His ERA rose to 2.31. He allowed home runs to Nick Swisher as well as Robinson Cano.

The Mets had trailed 5-1, but strode back to tie it at five in the sixth inning. Despite the rally, Cano’s homer proved to be the game winning run off reliever Miguel Baustista.

“We feel like we can beat everybody. We never go into a game saying, “We’ll probably lose this one because this guy’s hot, ‘” Teixeira said after the win. “When people say, “You can’t beat him,’ we go, ‘OK, we’ll prove you wrong.’ It’s kind of fun.”

The Yankees have taken five out of six games against the Mets this season.
