Watson/Getty Images(OAKLAND, Calif.) — For a league leading 11th time, the Oakland Athletics won a game on a walk-off. This time A’s outfielder Coco Crisp smacked the game-winning hit in the bottom of the 12th inning, as Oakland (51-44) topped the New York Yankees (57-38), 5-4.

The victory gave the Athletics a four-game sweep over the Yankees, the first time they’ve done that since 1972.

The Yankees took an early 4-0 lead in the fourth, but the Athletics fought back tying it up in the ninth on outfielder Seth Smiths’ 11th home run of the season.

“I don’t know that there was anybody in the dugout or in the stands that didn’t think we were going to win,” Smith said.

The Athletics are a major league best 14-2 in the month of July.

They currently are tied for the American League Wild Card lead with the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Angels.
