Braves Place Simmons on the Disabled List
Published at(NEW YORK) — Atlanta Braves rookie shortstop Andrelton Simmons was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday, after injuring his right pinkie finger during Sunday’s game versus the Philadelphia Phillies.
The injury is expected to cause the 22-year-old to miss at least a month.
Simmons was called up from Double-A Mississippi in early June.
In 33 games with the Braves, Simmons has hit .296, with three home runs and 15 RBIs, and was the National League rookie of the month in June.
A corresponding roster move is not expected until after Triple-A Gwinnett plays Thursday night.
