GETTY E 071112 ComicCon? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1342170458483Joe Scarnici/FilmMagic(SAN DIEGO) — Filmmakers made a full-court press for some big-name movies Thursday at Comic-Con 2012 in San Diego.

Pirates of the Caribbean and Rango director Gore Verbinski gave fans a taste of his latest collaboration with Johnny Depp, The Lone Ranger with Armie Hammer; the cast of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 talked to reporters and Twihards alike; and original Spider-Man series director Sam Raimi and his cast plugged Oz: The Great and the Powerful, a prequel to The Wizard of Oz.

Twilight star Kristen Stewart said she’s not unhappy that fans associate her with her character Bella Swan.

“I’m like, ‘Please pigeonhole me,’ you know what I mean?  That means I did it right…if [fans] always say, ‘God, it’s kinda weird for me to watch her in other stuff,’ it’s, like, great.  Perfect.  That’s a compliment,” Stewart said.

Her co-star and rumored boyfriend Robert Pattinson got laughs about how he and Twilight creator Stephenie Meyer could keep the movie series going, now that his vampire character Edward Cullen and Bella are married and have a family together.

“Kind of Ed and Bella get divorced and it’s like, kind of, Mr. & Mrs. Smith thing,” the actor said to much laughter from the fans in attendance.

As for Oz: The Great and the Powerful, Raimi described the film as a look back before the events of the classic 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz.

“It’s a story of how the wizard came from Kansas to the land of Oz, and how a slightly selfish man became a slightly more selfless man,” the director commented.

Mila Kunis said that playing Theodora, the Wicked Witch, was as scary as the witch can be on screen.

“When I tell you I was scared going into it is an understatement.  And truly I was frightened,” the actress said to laughs.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 hits theaters on Nov. 16, and Oz: The Great and the Powerful is slated for release on March 8, 2013.
