Designer Vera Wang Separates from Husband

Bennett Raglin/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Vera Wang, the fashion designer who has all but become the face of American weddings, is separating from her husband, Arthur Becker.

“Vera Wang and Arthur Becker have mutually and amicably agreed to separate,” Wang’s publicist said in a statement to ABC News. “They remain devoted parents to their two daughters.”

Wang, 63, and Becker have been married for 23 years. Her struggle to find a dress for their 1989 wedding — after months of searching, she commissioned a custom gown — inspired her to launch a line of wedding dresses. Becker advised Wang as her business grew from a Manhattan bridal shop into a global, multimillion-dollar brand, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

Wang has outfitted scores of celebrities for their weddings, including Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys, and Chelsea Clinton.
