Did Katie Holmes Hint at Divorce in Interview Weeks Ago?

Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) — Katie Holmes may have hinted at her troubled marriage and pending divorce in a recent interview with Elle.
In late May, she was asked about Tom Cruise for the issue of the women’s magazine set to be released on July 17.
Holmes said, “He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years, I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that.”
The 33-year-old actress also added that being married to the movie star, who was just named among the world’s highest-earning actors by Forbes, didn’t make her career any easier.
“If anything, you work a little bit harder when you’re in such visible circumstances,” she said.
Holmes celebrated the Fourth of July sans Cruise, instead spending it with their 6-year-old daughter Suri in Manhattan. And Holmes and her child reportedly were seen at the Children’s Museum of the Arts in New York on Thursday.
Despite the many reports claiming Scientology played a role in Holmes’ divorce filing, TMZ.com now says Cruise’s religion was not a factor, citing sources who say her team is leaking false stories. Then again, TMZ also claims that Cruise controlled her career to the extent that when Holmes worked on the film Thank You for Smoking, he put the kibosh on publicity photos of her kissing co-star Aaron Eckhart.
The website also says that he wouldn’t let Holmes fly with her co-stars during production of Batman Begins.
Holmes has some post-marriage plans. According to Women’s Wear Daily, her clothing line Holmes & Yang, which she co-founded with stylist Jeanne Yang in 2009, will stage its first-ever runway show at New York Fashion Week in September.
