Forbes: Tom Cruise Is the Highest-Paid Actor in Hollywood
(NEW YORK) -- Tom Cruise is the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, according to Forbes magazine. It's a little bit of good news for Cruise, whose wife, Katie Holmes, filed for divorce last week after five years of marriage.
The actor, who recently turned 50, earned a whopping $75 million between May 2011 and May 2012. Cruise commanded a huge salary for 2011's Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol, which raked in $700 million at the box office worldwide, and he was also paid well for Oblivion, which will hit theaters in April 2013, according to Forbes.
Following Cruise on the list are Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Sandler, who are tied for second place, with each reportedly earning $37 million between May 2011 and May 2012. DiCaprio commands up to $20 million for his movie roles, which include the 2010 box office smash Inception.
And Sandler's movies always seem to earn money no matter how bad the reviews are. Despite lackluster reviews and 10 Razzie Awards, Sandler's comedy Jack and Jill still managed to earn $150 million at the box office worldwide.
Rounding out the top five highest-paid actors are Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson with $36 million and Ben Stiller with $33 million.
