Fred Willard: Porn Movie Was ‘Boring,’ Arrest Was ‘Embarrassing as Hell’

Brian To/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) — On Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Thursday night, comic Fred Willard addressed his July 19 lewd conduct arrest at a Los Angeles porn theater.
Willard, a veteran of comedies like Best in Show and This Is Spinal Tap, began the interview with a joke, asking Jimmy Fallon, “What do you want to talk about first?” before saying of the arrest, “Let me say this: That’s the last time I’m gonna listen to my wife when she says, ‘Why don’t you go see a movie?'”
He also joked that the film was boring, and the theater was a good place to take a nap.
Willard again asserted nothing inappropriate happened — as the arresting officer claimed — and that the situation is “being sorted out.” The comic admitted the whole situation was, “embarrassing as hell,” adding, “It’s very painful but I’m trying to laugh it off.”
The arrest got Willard fired from the PBS show Market Warriors, but he still currently hosts the ABC improv comedy show Trust Us with Your Life.
